Yes, size does matter! It is important when you are shopping online and it is particularly important when you are shopping for custom items that cannot be returned. So many of our best selling items are ones that can be customized. Customized with monograms, team names, initials, camps and more. It is important to us that all our customers are able to wear what they like! That goes for graphics as well as the fit of the item. So how DO you choose the correct size when you are shopping online?
1. Measurements – Most sites, including ours, can provide you with sizing measurements for items upon request. But is that even helpful? Do you know how many inches your son’s waist is? Your daughter’s inseam? Your own hips? That doesn’t work for me. If it works for you – I’m impressed! Sizing charts with measurements are available upon request for all of our items.
2. Real Fit – Many companies have numerical sizing sewn into their labels. I find that those numbers may be accurate prior to washing but what most of us really want to know is how will it fit after I wash it? We use many different suppliers and brands but the following chart converts most of what we sell at LikeWear from youth sizes to number sizing equivalents:
- Youth Extra Small = 4/5
- Youth Small = 6/7
- Youth Medium = 8/10
- Youth Large = 12
- Youth Extra Large = 14/16
3. In Between Sizes– If you are in between sizes or simply unsure, I always recommend ordering up a size. There is nothing worse than buying something new and having it be too small after one washing. Ordering up allows for a little shrinkage, the freedom to toss items in the dryer and to get a longer life out of your purchase. I mean let’s face it – these kids are gonna grow and we all want to make sure to have at least one clothing season before new items are outgrown!
Of course, if you are totally confused and/or are hesitant to commit, just email us or give us a call and we can guide you on how to choose the correct size when shopping.
