How To Wash Clothes With Glitter Graphics

“That’s too much glitter,” said no little girl ever.

At our Custom Clothing Bar we add graphics of our customers’ choosing to a wide variety of shirts, sweatshirts, shorts and even bags. And when the younger girls are sitting at the Bar doing the choosing, glitter is almost always the first choice! The sparkle, glint and shimmer of glitter can mesmerize and sway even the most indecisive of our young designers. It doesn’t matter if it’s a full on glitter unicorn or emoji or just some glitter hearts or stars used as add-ons, glitter has the magical power to transform the most basic item into the most fabulous, favorite garment that your child will insist on wearing all the time!!

With all that wearing, you’ll have to get that new shirt into the washing machine at some point. So, what’s the best way to wash stuff that has glitter graphics? I’m not sure about glitter from other companies, but for LikeWear’s glitter just wash it the old fashioned way… meaning that there are NO special washing instructions. Fur reals. Yup, you read that correctly. No hand washing – throw it in the machine! No line drying – toss it in the dryer! And no flaking or shedding of the glitter – so wash it with the rest of your laundry and you will never have to wipe glitter out of the bottom of the drum! If you are a Type A, gentle-cycle-only kind of laundry fanatic and the lack of attention required to get our stuff clean is making you uncomfortable, then by all means turn the shirt inside out when you wash it. That will at least protect anything else seamless being washed at the same time from catching and getting snagged or pulled.

But really, we double dare you to wash our stuff regularly and put it in the dryer. LikeWear is known for its durability (no cracking, peeling or fading of graphics) and washability (kids usually outgrow their stuff from us before they outwear it) and our glitter is no exception. So the next time you’re at our Custom Bar, don’t be afraid to go ahead and “get your glitter on”!
